Our Mission

The Department of Art supports the larger University goals of fostering educational, cultural, social and economic growth in Georgia and beyond. We educate students in Art History, Studio Art and Art Education, awarding Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science in Education, and Master of Education degrees.

The department’s curriculum is student-centered and progressive, beginning with foundation courses and moving through intermediate and advanced courses for majors and non-majors alike. We serve the creative needs of our region through our curriculum and our extracurricular events.

Our exhibitions and visiting artists enhance our curriculum and enrich our non-student community. By graduating excellent students, supporting the University’s mission and creating events available to the public we will continue our positive contribution to this region’s culture.
