Matthew Paul Isaacson, Assistant Professor of Fine Art in Ceramics, was born and raised in the Cherry Capital of Northern Michigan. His inspiration and multitude of experience is derived from the culture and rural farmland, specifically the fruit manufacturing and agricultural industry that he grew up working in, which is an evident theme in his work. Professor Isaacson attended Western Michigan University to study ceramics and sculpture. He graduated however with a BFA in painting in 2004. He went on to complete his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 with an emphasis on ceramics and glass. Professor Isaacson has been a resident artist/ technician at Kalamazoo Community College in MI, Sugarmaples Center for the Arts in NY, and Ox-Bow School of Art in MI. He has exhibited in several non profit venues, galleries and art institutes in the United States.
