October 19 - 20, 2009 Campus Visit "Drive By Press"

Drive by Press was created in 2005 when two artist and printmakers, Greg Nanney and Joseph Velasquez, met in graduate school and made it their mission to share their enthusiasm for printmaking with audiences everywhere.

He is the co-owner of The Slingshot Gallery as well Drive by Press which will tour this fall. He got his B.F.A. in printmaking and drawing from Washington University in St. Louis and received his M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Gregory has been shown at The Des Lee Gallery, the Slingshot Gallery, Washington University Library, as well as the Overture center for the arts. He is in the private collections at, Montgomery Bell Academy, Washington University Library, the Nancy Spero book studio, as well as the Nashville public library.

Joseph Velasquez ~  (Right)

Co-founder co-founder of the Dirty Printmakers of America, curator of exhibitions at the SlingShot Gallery, Madison WI, and is published by Cannonball Press, Brooklyn NY.Joseph has an M.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and B.A. and B.F.A. from the University of Mary- Hardin Baylor. He has shown at many galleries across the country and has participated in many group exhibitions and art exchanges.

Drive-By Press  educates and shares the contemporary practice of printmaking with students and art audiences across America. Workshops are two-day events using our mobile print lab or utilizing hostsí facilities. The first day includes our lectures and demonstrations. The second day is a hands-on printing session with the students printing artist blocks of their choice. Various demonstrations in multi-block relief printing as well as color reduction screen-printing, and the amazing ìNo-Printî, in screen printing! They also offer demonstrations in etching as well as plate or stone lithography techniques using host facility.
